Brass Ensemble

Brass EnsembleThis ensemble provides an opportunity for brass students to perform chamber music. The group features a full brass choir, brass quintets, trumpet ensembles, horn ensembles and tuba-euphonium ensembles, as well as other various chamber instrumentations. The Brass Ensemble meets twice a week and provides concerts every semester. Jazz Band

Jazz BandThe Jazz Band performs high-energy shows for sellout crowds of more than 1,000 people. This audition-based group has performed with the New York Voices, Dizzy Gillespie, The Rolling Stones saxophonist Ernie Watts, and many more world-renowned artists. This Band takes pride in covering a full spectrum of jazz music from vintage to contemporary styles. The Band performs several major concerts each year in addition to The Jazz Noon Show "brown bag" lunch concerts and other community events. Jazz Catz

Jazz CatzThis select, auditioned ensemble is recognized statewide as the region’s most outstanding vocal jazz ensemble. Jazz Catz has performed with The Manhattan Transfer and at Carnegie Hall. Lions Athletic BandThe Lions Athletic Band is a select group of 40-50 musicians that perform at all men's and women's home basketball games. Percussion Ensemble

The Percussion Ensemble consists primarily of percussion majors, and provides students with the opportunity to perform and become familiar with the ever-growing volume of percussion ensemble literature. Composing and conducting opportunities will also be presented and encouraged. The ensemble presents public performances and clinic sessions each semester. Participation in the percussion ensemble is expected for as many semesters as possible so that students can acquaint themselves with the literature and techniques. Piano

The keyboard area offers a supportive, rewarding and challenging course of study for piano soloists, future music teachers and educators, chamber musicians and accompanists. In addition to performing solo piano works, piano majors perform multi-hand compositions and work collaboratively as accompanists with instrumental and vocal majors. Symphonic Band

Symphonic BandThe Symphonic Band is the University’s premiere instrumental ensemble, and has earned an exemplary reputation throughout Arkansas and Oklahoma for outstanding and exciting performances. This ensemble is an auditioned group of 60 instrumentalists that performs standard band and wind ensemble repertoire. University Chorale

University ChoraleThis group is the University's premiere choral ensemble. University Chorale is an auditioned group of 60 singers that performs a wide variety of outstanding choral literature from the Renaissance period to the present. In addition to four major on-campus concerts, this ensemble presents concerts at various off-campus locations. The Chorale rehearses Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m. 

 

 

 

Vocal Performance Workshop

Vocal Performance WorkshopThe Vocal Performance Workshop provides students with the opportunity to perform both solo and ensemble repertoire from musical theater and opera, with individual instruction in music and dramatic preparation, interpretive ability and proper performance techniques. At the end of the semester, each member of the Workshop could have the opportunity to perform an entire role as part of a main stage production or to perform a variety of roles in a scene program. Women's Chorus

This Chorus is a women's ensemble that pursues musical excellence through diverse and wide-ranging repertoire. The Women's Chorus performs four major on-campus concerts each year. The Chorus rehearses Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00 to 2:50 p.m. 

Woodwind Ensembles

Various woodwind ensembles are organized each semester to study chamber music from the standard woodwind repertoire. Ensembles include clarinet trios and quartets, flute duets and quartets, saxophone quartets and woodwind quintets.
