Biographical Information

I have taught in university English and education departments since 1998. My primary research field is nineteenth-century British literature, with research interests in the Romantic and Victorian landscapes, the development of the National Trust, and the confluence of the sublime, the beautiful, and the gothic. In education I have successfully written multiple grants for teacher professional development and have presented workshops on diverse topics, including Professional Learning Communities, Common Core State Standards, parental involvement, and comprehensive school improvement. My current research has included cultural studies of Home Box Office original programming, for example considering how Girls inverts aspects of Marxist economic thought or how images of characters reading generate an inter-textual diegesis for select audiences.
