I teach a variety of courses in nineteenth-century British literature with special attention to publication history, gender roles, and the conventions of serial fiction. I’ve also taught a number of introductory and upper-level writing courses designed to focus on popular culture and new media studies. I am currently working on a book manuscript looking at how domestic serials functioned as part of the editorial voice of the nineteenth-century family literary magazine. I'm also working on a digital indexing project on poetry in nineteenth-century periodicals. Periodical Poetry: An Index of Poetry in Nineteenth-Century Periodicals indexes English-language poetry published in nineteenth-century periodicals, including texts by nineteenth-century British and American poets, poets from earlier periods, and poems in English translation. More details can be found at periodicalpoetry.org.
