EFFECTIVE TEACHING STRATEGIES

A chance to gather together, share ideas, and learn new pedagogical methods: Saturday, Nov. 2nd, 2019.

 

The UAFS Symposium for Spanish, ESL & World Language Teachers is a public project organized by the World Languages Department at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. The Symposium will take place in the Windgate Art and Design Building on the UAFS Campus in Fort Smith. The symposium will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2019. On-site registration and continental breakfast begin at 8:00 a.m. in the lobby of the Windgate Art and Design Building. Free parking is available on the south side of the Windgate Art and Design Building (Lot F), right off of Waldron Road. 

 

All Spanish, ESL and World Language teachers at the elementary, secondary and university level as well as undergraduate and graduate students are invited to attend. The symposium offers breakout workshop sessions on a variety of second and foreign language pedagogy topics. New this year we will also be including a poster session highlighting effective teaching practices.  

 

 CALL FOR WORKSHOPS AND POSTERS:

The Symposium Workshop Selection Committee will begin accepting proposals through September 15, 2019. If you have questions, feel free to contact Lynda McClellan at Lynda.McClellan@uafs.edu

 

Early-bird registration runs until to October 1, 2019. Community members/professors/teachers: $50. Students: $25.  REGISTRATION WILL OPEN IN AUGUST.

 

Up to five (5) hours of continuing education units can be earned at the Spanish Teachers Symposium.
