Dr. Paulette Meikle
Dr. Paulette Meikle has served as Associate Dean in the College of Communication, Languages, Arts and Social Sciences since August, 2016. She earned a Ph.D., in Sociology from Mississippi State University in 2005. Prior to that, she completed a Master of Philosophy degree in Geography and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography and Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies. Prior to joining the team at UAFS, she served as Department Chair and Professor of Sociology and Community Development at Delta State University.
In addition to overseeing and providing policy direction for an academic unit for over 6 years, she has 24 years of experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating projects that build social and economic capital for the advancement of communities. She has conducted extensive study in international settings on issues related to integrating aspects of resource management, asset accumulation, women’s leadership, gender equality and livelihood strategies in research agendas and activities. She has published in the Journal of Extension, Community Development: Journal of the Community Development Society, Journal of Rural Social Sciences and Caribbean Geography. She also has publications with Sage publishers and the Nova Science publishers.
