Dr. Paul Hankins
Dr. Paul Hankins has served as Dean of the College of Communication, Languages, Arts and Social Sciences since July, 2015. He holds the Doctor of Music Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He had previously earned the Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas, and attended West Texas A & M University where he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Dr. Hankins began his academic career in higher education at Augustana College, Sioux Falls before accepting a position at Delta State University in 1999 where he served in different capacities; as Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Chair of the Department of Music, and Professor of Music.
At UAFS, Dean Hankins oversees multiple academic programs including art and graphic design, behavioral and social sciences, criminal justice, communication, English, history, music, philosophy, political science, theatre, and world languages. Aside from his administrative duties, Dr. Hankins also remains musically active, playing his trumpet as a member of Fort Smith Symphony and the North Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.
